I know it’s been old news at this point, but it didn’t really hit me until last week. Is the Kindle to blame? Do Americans not read like they did just 10 years ago? Or did Borders not adapt the changing tide of consumerism? I think it is a combination of all three, either way I am sad about it. I love bookstores, big or small, new or used.

Whenever I feel like my pursuit of art is a pointless, absurd pipe dream, that I would have been better off going to law school or trying my hand in the seemingly soulless world of wall street, or just killing myself because I don't think I can keep up my hustle, I search for work that refuels me.

Every year here in Sacramento CA we have "free museum day" which is exactly how it sounds; all museums are free to the public. After dealing with stupid traffic this passed Saturday, my friend Janelle and I arrived at the Crocker Art Museum about 2pm and of course the museum is packed with, what my mom who used to say "The Great Unwashed."

Crowds don't bother me that much, but kids, Jesus Fucking Christ, large amounts of children make my skin crawl. (Read More Here)

The foremost goal of the West Collection is to meet young artists who are creating challenging and inventive work and to present an experience of this new art to the public. Since the mid-90’s, the West family has loaned most of the collection to SEI Investments, which Al West founded in the late 60’s and runs today.

Curator Paige West has actively grown the collection to extend beyond SEI, to include loans to museums and university galleries. A major goal in collecting has been to visit artists in the studio and to understand their reasons for making art.
